Summer Reading 2025 arrives June 14!

Program dates: June 14 to August 9

Download READsquared app to your phone (iphone or android) if you’d like or simply record your progress on a computer at tenaflylibrary.readsquared.com/.

 

All participants keep track of books read at tenaflylibrary.readsquared.com (or use the app)

  • 1 book = 1 bead for necklace (prek-grade 5)

  • 1 book = 100 points toward a raffle ticket (1 picture book = 50 points)

  • 1 approved book review = 100 points

  • 500 points = 1 raffle ticket

  • 1 extra raffle ticket for each additional 300 points. Maximum 1 prize per participant.​

At registration, children receive a necklace and take-home bead tracker. Readers earn colored beads by reading different book genres. Return to the library with your bead tracker to claim beads and get a new bead tracker.

Outdoor Play, all ages

Outdoor Play includes a variety of activities from sensory toys to hands on art activities  and water play which help young children learn about the world and explore.

​Family Storytime, all ages

In this relaxed, end-of-the day storytime, we share stories and songs to unwind after a busy day.​ Children are welcome to attend dressed in their pajamas with their favorite stuffed toy or blanket.

Enjoy stories, songs, and creative projects or games!

Songs, storybooks and free playtime! We encourage babies to sing along, act out rhymes and interact with other attendees as they begin to make the connection between language and the written word.

Break out your favorite blaster and eye pro!

We will be turning the library over to the kids for an all out foam dart extravaganza! Teams will be chosen, games will be played, and fun will be had by all! Those attending are encouraged to bring eye protection or swim goggles if they are able. The library will provide eye protection and blasters for those who do not have their own. All blasters MUST be able to use full length darts.

Step inside Niles, the inflatable whale, to discover the fascinating similarities and differences between whales and humans that highlight the uniqueness of these incredible marine beings. An educator from Whalemobile will teach you why whales matter to the health and well being of our oceans and our planet. You will also learn how you can help protect these giants and their habitats.

​

EVERYONE who wishes to enter the whale must be registered, able to sit on the floor for 30 minutes, and be at least 6 years old.

Ann Kim will read from her book, Danbi Leads the School Parade and do some fun activities with attendees. Anna was born in Seoul, South Korea, and immigrated to the United States with her family Her book stars Danbi, a spunky and courageous little girl whose boundless energy and curiosity often get the best of her.

Many of the fairy houses from the Tenafly Nature Center have been relocated to the library for the summer and we are celebrating!  Admire all the different styles of fairy architecture and stay for the fun.

Miss Tish will read fairy stories and sing songs that fairies absolutely love.  Those who wish to invite the fairies into their home can make a special fairy door to install in their home or yard.
