Open STEM Time

In-person STEM programs on hiatus

This is a free exploration program where children are free to use the library's STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) equipment to hone their technical prowess.

Sometimes we focus on one activity like Building Challenges and other times we make a variety of equipment available to participants.

Our equipment includes

  • Code-a-pillars for the littlest coders

  • Mouse Maze for young coders

  • Ozobots for learning coding by colors

  • Finch Robots to learn beginning scratch programming

  • Snap-Circuits to learn about electric circuit

  • Squishy Circuits

  • LEGOs

Check out our events calendar for exact days and times of Open Stem classes.

STEM Workshops

ages vary

In-person STEM programs on hiatus.

From coding to engineering challenges to science exploration, our STEM workshops use children's innate curiosity to engage participants in practicing 21st century skills in a non-competative environment. The emphasis is on fun and instilling confidence in participants

Activities include:

  • Hour of Code

  • Engineering Challenges

  • Experiments in physics and chemistry

  • Art, games and demonstrations to facilitate learning about animals and ecology.

While most STEM Workshops are geared to children ages 6 and up, Sensory Activities introduce children ages 2 to 5 to basic science and encourage observational skills.

Check out our events calendar for exact days and times of STEM Workshops or Sensory Activities

Featured Children's Programs

To enhance our in house programming, we often invite professional performers or presenters to our Children's Room.

Your children might meet some rare and unusual animals, watch a live performance while dancing and signing along or learn to relax during a yoga class in these special events.
