Saturday Crafting
Saturdays (times vary)
ages 3+
In person craft programs on hiatus.

Families work on creative projects together on Crafty Saturdays. Crafters under age 6 may need some additional help from a parent or other caregiver.

We might focus on one craft skill such as origami or plan the program around seasonal materials.

Crafting Workshops

In person craft programs on hiatus.

Projects vary from using recycled materials to make a wall hanging on Earth Day, to working with professional artists on unique projects to combining art with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEAM).

This is a free exploration program where children are free to use the library's STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) equipment to hone their technical prowess.
Sometimes we focus on one activity like Building Challenges and other times we make a variety of equipment available to participants.

STEM Workshops

From coding to engineering challenges to science exploration, our STEM workshops use children's innate curiosity to engage participants in practicing 21st century skills in a non-competative environment. The emphasis is on fun and instilling confidence in participants

Experiments in physics and chemistry

Art, games and demonstrations to facilitate learning about animals and ecology.
While most STEM Workshops are geared to children ages 6 and up, Sensory Activities introduce children ages 2 to 5 to basic science and encourage observational skills.

Featured Children's Programs
To enhance our in house programming, we often invite professional performers or presenters to our Children's Room.
Your children might meet some rare and unusual animals, watch a live performance while dancing and signing along or learn to relax during a yoga class in these special events.
